NEW MEMBERS Ask about visiting a meeting - or offer to speak at a meeting. Both are excellent ways to learn about Kiwanis, make contacts and let Kiwanis members know more about you. While there is no minimum attendance requirement for Kiwanis (we understand that family and work must come first), members are expected to attend meetings and participate in events when they can. Members of this club must be persons of good character and reside in the community or have great interest in the community. New members are on probation for the first three months. They must attend at least three meetings, participate in at least one service project and serve on at least one committee during that time. All new members must be sponsored by a current member. If you don't know anyone in the club, contact the Membership Chair who will arrange a sponsor for you. If and when you decide to join, your sponsor will ask you to complete a brief application to be submitted to and voted on by the club's board of directors. Each proposal for membership shall be submitted by a member of this club to the Secretary or the Committee on Membership Growth and Education, which proposal shall bear the signature of the proposer and the endorsement of at least one (1) additional club member, both of whom shall be members in good standing. (from Bylaws) Members pay an annual membership fee of $150 (the first year's fee is pro-rated depending on the month joined - see table below) which includes membership in our club, the Florida District of Kiwanis and Kiwanis International.
