BIG BROTHERS, BIG
SISTERS
Members of our club
volunteer to help at-risk children through two different
programs:
- The traditional
community-based program works by matching children ages
5-17 with a caring adult. Activities might include
going to the park, mini-golfing, bowling, biking, going
to a play, taking a walk, working on homework, washing
a car, going to the Zoo, visiting a wildlife refuge, or
simply just spending time together.
- Bigs-In-School
Mentoring is a fun and rewarding program that matches a
male or female volunteer with a child in a school
setting. This program is only one hour each
week during the school year. Having fun is easy in
school where matches can work on Math, Reading,
Language Arts and play games, shoot hoops, draw, paint,
or just spend time together. Through encouragement,
one-hour can help a child improve their sense of
self-confidence, while helping him/her to improve
academically.
